Keza starts an original model by making a few sketches. She uses her own photographs or those sent to her for a commission. Her favoured subjects are animals that have immense power, grace and nobility. She sees each sculpture as a puzzle to be solved, which may take as long as 3 months. First she constructs a basic skeleton using wire. Then, using her knowledge of anatomy and her love for sport, which has greatly enhanced her knowledge of how muscles work, she places on the clay as she thinks the muscles would be, until it gives a feeling of life and personality. She often uses her own dogs as models, who lie at her feet until ordered to pose, quite content to have their muscles and bones pulled and prodded!!
