| Tony White was twenty-five when he first pressed his thumb into a soft portion of cool, damp, yielding clay at his local college and the relationship began. He later went on to become ceramic technician and part-time adult education lecturer at that same college. Moving to Wales, he initially set up a workshop producing domestic stoneware, but in 1990 he established his present workshop where he concentrates on Raku-fired animal forms. He has achieved his ambition to earn his living making ceramics - the journey has been a long evolutionary process with self-doubt and insecurity as travelling companions. Although he shapes clay, clay has shaped his life also. |
